While browsing through the Gourmet online archives for my December recipe, I came across another Clementine Paddleford article—this time from 1944. It made me feel quite nostalgic for days past, especially the mention of Montague Street in Brooklyn, which is where my dad's family grew up. Here's a peek at more post cards from Mammy's Pantry which used to be at 122 Montague Street from Katia over at Pardon Me for Asking. Paddleford talks about pies in her article, and I'd love to know which kind will grace your holiday table? I'm in a pumpkin state of mind.
I did my best to honor Gourmet this Thanksgiving, doing a Roast Turkey with Potato Apple and Prune stuffing which I have done every time I've done a turkey since 1994. Those magazines from 1991-2006 really informed my growth as a home cook, providing inspiration, information and ideas to expand confidence and provide the best food for my family.
